 2009 SCOUTING EVALUATION:

MBA Logo
PITCHING: Strong 6’2” pitching frame, carries 220 lbs. well with still more room to grow… much leaner with increased core strength that has improved flexibility in both lower and top half.

Mechanically has a very good top half and down angle at release…has done a much better of staying back and using lower half which will effectively increase velo as he continues to refine his mechanics.  Hand break is just above belt, keeps shoulders aligned and his direction at foot strike and after are above average.  There is no unnecessary recoil or falling off to glove side.  Very athletic with good body control during both wind-up and stretch.

His high ¾ throwing slot is free and easy and works at mid to high 80s with the ability to be an 88-91 pitcher.  Has a very long, loose and durable arm…a strike thrower and has command of both his 4-seam and 2-seam fastball which sinks.

Throws a spiked CV with sharp, down action and has very good command and ability to throw in any count.  Also throws a SL that has good action down and away and has a very serviceable CH with good fade.

Has shown ability to be a big-game starter and has a lot of intangibles on the mound: aggressiveness, good body language, ability to shut down big innings and has long history of being a big-game competitor/winner.
